Ongoing Requirement For The Above, Multi-Tools Procured Under A Standing Offer Are To Be Provided :
REQUIREMENTS
3.1. General
3.1.1. Length. The Multi-Tool shall have a closed length of 110 ± 20 mm. [Advice]
3.1.2. Depth. The Multi-Tool shall have a folded nominal depth of 32 ± 5 mm. [Advice]
3.1.3. Width. The Multi-Tool shall have a nominal width of 15 ± 5 mm. [Advice]
3.1.4. Finish. The Multi-Tool shall not have a blued or other corrosion resistant finish.

3.2. Functional Requirements
3.2.1. Pliers. The Multi-Tool shall include integral pliers. [Essential]
3.2.1.1. Gripping. The pliers shall include a gripping surface at the nose for holding, crimping,
bending and shaping material as defined at 1.2. [Important]
3.2.1.2. Cutting Edge. The pliers shall include a cutting edge in their craw for cutting: [Very
Important]
Wire, up to 4 mm low tensile fencing wire;
b. Metal strip, such as extruded brass and aluminium ≤ 1 mm; and
c. Sheet, such as aluminium cans and brass shims.
3.2.2. Phillips Head Screwdriver. The Multi-Tool shall incorporate a number 2 Phillips head
screwdriver. [Essential]
3.2.3. Small Flat Tip Screwdriver. The Multi-Tool shall incorporate a small slotted screwdriver
with a nominal tip size of 2mm. [Essential]
3.2.4. Large Flat Tip Screwdriver. The Multi-Tool shall incorporate a large slotted screwdriver
with a nominal tip size of 5mm. [Essential]
3.2.5. Knife Blade. The Multi-Tool shall incorporate at least one knife blade with a single
cutting edge 70 ± 10 mm long when measured longitudinally from the point to the leading
edge of the bolster. The blade is to be of either normal or drop point design and be
ground without serrations. [Essential]
Note: Should additional blades be included at 3.2.7 they may include serrations and be
of a different design.
3.2.6. Scissors. The Multi-Tool shall incorporate scissors for undertaking light cutting tasks as
defined at 1.2. [Very Important]
3.2.7. Additional Tools. The Multi-Tool may include additional tools that will assist with the
tasks described at 1.2. [Desirable]
3.2.8. Carry Pouch. The Multi-Tool shall include a carry pouch finished in matt black, khaki or
olive green. [Essential]
3.3. Safety and Comfort Features.
3.3.1. Locking Blade. The main knife blade shall lock open when extended. [Essential]
3.3.2. Pliers Handles. The multi-tool shall be designed so that when it is configured as pliers
the handles designed so that they present a rounded and smooth contact surface to the
user. [Very Important]
3.4. Integration
3.4.1. Carriage. The Multi-Tool carry pouch should be able to be affixed to in-service webbing,
which varies from 25 mm wide by 1.5 mm thick to 57 mm wide by 3 mm thick. The
attachment method should be by a means that allows the pouch to be attached to a
closed loop of webbing. [Important]
3.4.2. Gloves. The Multi-Tool shall be able to be operated with gloved hands such as the
Glove Flyers to MIL-G-81188-C. [Important]
3.5. Durability
3.5.1. Materials. The multi-tool shall be manufactured from materials that resist corrosion when
exposed to rain, salt water and sweat. [Very Important]
3.5.2. Design. The multi-tool shall be design so that it can repeatedly perform the tasks
described at 1.2 on a daily basis for a minimum operating life of six months. [Essential] |
